Pigna Technical Guide to Rulings
Every project has its own thread. Identify the perfect code for your needs through our universal technical classification.
Striped Markings
OK
Wide lines (approx. 14mm) with side margins.
Tracked ruling designed for the early stages of learning. The generous space facilitates stroke control and letter height.
1st and 2nd grade
OB
Narrow ruled (approx. 10mm) with side margins.
The natural evolution of ruled page A. It maintains the margin structure but reduces the line spacing for a more fluid and compact writing.
3rd grade
OK
Single line with side margins.
The definitive line with a margin. It combines the clean look of a single line with the visual guidance of the red margin, useful for spatial organization of the page.
4th and 5th grade
1R
Single universal rule (no margins).
Essentiality and freedom. The continuous ruling maximizes the available space on the sheet. The timeless classic for any volume of writing.
Middle and high schools
Squared ruled
10M
10mm / 1cm Squares
The ideal spacing for learning to write numbers. The size of the squares helps children maintain proportions and fit one digit per box.
1st Grade
1F
10mm Squared with Margin
The red vertical line helps define the workspace. It's the standard format for mathematics in the early years of primary school, making it easier to align calculations.
2nd and 3rd Grade
0Q
5mm Squared Notebook with "Special" Margin
Very similar to the 1f, the Q code is Pigna's historic reference for the first years of primary school. It is the "squared notebook par excellence" requested by most teachers.
2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade
5M
5mm Squared No Margins
The universal standard. Without the constraint of margins, it offers maximum freedom for notes, graphs, and professional use in the office.
Middle school and high school
4M
4mm Grid without Margin
"Clean" version without a red margin. Excellent for technical subjects, geometric drawing, and for those with small and precise handwriting.
Middle and high school
4F
4mm Squared Notebook with Margin
As students move into fourth grade, the squares become smaller. The margin remains to ensure neatness, but the internal space allows for more complex calculations and denser texts.
4th Grade
Special Grooves
Punteggiato
Dotted: 5mm spaced dot matrix.
The ruling that's there but you can't see. It offers the support of a grid to align text and drawings, but visually disappears once the page is finished.
0
Blank page with no print.
Absolute freedom. No constraints, no predefined direction. Pigna paper in its purity, ready to receive sketches, mind maps, or drawings.
