1839
On April 30, the company Cartiere Paolo Pigna was established in Milan by Ing. Paolo Pigna.
1919
The Company transforms from a limited partnership to a joint-stock company, under the name Cartiere Paolo Pigna S.A., and the registered office is moved to Alzano Maggiore. The administrative headquarters, however, remain in Milan.
1960
The company begins to expand its business, broadening its product range: in addition to notebooks, diaries, pencil cases, and folders are introduced.
1985
The Quablock brand ring binder is born, quickly becoming a nationwide success.
1993
The Monocromo brand is registered and its iconic stationery line is launched.
2007
Bergamo entrepreneur Giorgio Jannone acquires a stake in Pigna, becoming its sole shareholder in subsequent years. The company focuses on developing paper products.
2012
The new headquarters of Cartiere Paolo Pigna is inaugurated, also in Alzano Lombardo.
2015
Cartiere Paolo Pigna S.p.A. enters a going concern arrangement with creditors.
2017
Through one of its funds, DeA Capital (De Agostini Group) acquired a 51% stake in Pigna.
2018
The Buffetti Group acquires a 40% stake in the company, and Massimo Fagioli (formerly of the De Agostini Group) is appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO.
2019
Cartiere Paolo Pigna S.p.A. exits bankruptcy two years early, expanding its stationery market and strengthening its status as a love brand with international operations, such as its collaboration with the MoMa Design Store in New York. The Buffetti Group acquires 100% of the shares, becoming the sole shareholder.
2020
For the first time in its history, Cartiera Paolo Pigna in Alzano remains closed for 40 consecutive days due to Covid-19 restrictions. Nevertheless, it concludes the year with the best performance in its sector. The new brand "PdiPigna" is launched.
2021
The first Sustainability Report is published, the result of the awareness-raising process undertaken by Pigna for several years now, towards sustainable development issues, both environmental and social.
